Senate No. 36 On February 9, 1842, the Joint Standing Committee on Banks and Banking, in response to a petition, reported a bill: An Act in addition the the act establishing the Springfield Bank, 1842. The bank could increase its capital stock by $100,000 in shares of $80 each, but all shares had to be sold by October. The bank could not do business relying on that money until a sworn statement that the money had been paid was on file with the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
