Senate No. 35 On February 9, 1842, the Committee on the Judiciary, in response to an order, reported a bill: An Act relating to the obtaining of property by false pretenses, 1842. No person could be judged guilt of obtaining property by false pretenses unless he had made a claim about the property in writing.
