Joint Special Comm. on Petition of Williams College. Report, 1842
|

Senate No. 19 A five man Joint Special Committee heard the petition from Williams College and its supporters for help rebuilding a dormitory that
had burned. The Committee reported that Williams had always tried to provide an affordable education and operated on a shoestring budget, so there was
no extra money to rebuild. The College submitted a financial statement to prove it. The Committee waxed eloquent on education in general, Williams'
role, and the history of the school and submitted: Resolve on the petition of the President and the Trustees of Williams College, 1842. A sum of
$15,000 be allowed in payments of $3,000 every July for the next five years. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library
