Senate No. 16 A Special Joint Committee was created to respond to a petition about the Warren Bridge and other bridge issues and sent its report
in January. The Act passed in the last session provided for repair of, first, the Charles River Bridge and, second, the Warren Bridge. Since the
Charles River Bridge opened in December, the agent for the Warren Bridge thought it prudent to wait for good weather to begin repairs on his bridge.
There was a public uproar. The Committee considered all the angles and decided to order the agent to begin repairs at once. It also thought one agent
could handle both bridges, being paid a little extra during the construction phase. A bus company had asked for half fare on tolls. The Committee did
the math and decided that was fine. An Act in addition to an act relating to the Charles River Bridge and the Warren Bridge, 1842. The Governor had
the authority to hire one agent to manage both bridges at $800/year with a little extra during construction. That person would immediately begin
repairs to the Warren Bridge. Omnibuses and stage coaches would be at half toll. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the
