House. Comm. on Unaccounted Expenses to Repair the State Capitol. Report, 1841
SEE ALSO 54615 House No. 81 A Committee had been appointed to see if money had been wasted during recent State House repairs; it submitted a
report. The Committee thought all monies had been accounted for, but the accounting system itself needed work. The Committee prepared a list of all money
spent on the capitol in the last ten years--$69,355--and then provided a detailed account of expenditures for the most recent five years. On p. 7:
An Act relating to the State House, 1841. The Committee on Public Buildings was to make an annual estimate of repairs needed to the State House. The
repair work would be supervised by the Sergeant at Arms. Invoices would by audited by the Governor's office before payment. The Treasurer would
report the costs to the Legislature each year. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
