House No. 61 The Joint Committee on the Militia reported on whether the Society of Friends and members of the [fire] engine companies should be on
the roll. The Committee did not see a need for legislation. However, T. A. Greene submitted a bill: An Act relating to military enrolments, 1841.

Title:   The Joint Committee on the Militia, who were instructed, by an order of the 14th of January, to inquire into the expediency of "exempting members of the society of Friends from being enrolled in the militia, and also the members of engine companies, and also all who are conscientiously scrupulous of bearing arms," ...
