House. Comm. on Probate and Chancery. Act concerning Elections, 1841
|
|
House No. 13 On January 27, 1841, the Committee on Matters of Probate and Chancery considered the repeal of an act commonly called the Sunset Law and reported a bill: An Act concerning elections, 1841. All meetings for the election of state and/or federal positions could start as early as 9 am. The voters could decide whether to have a single large ballot or all separate ballots. Votes could be turned in folded rather than open for all to see. Why this was the purview of a committee on probate was not explained.
