House No. 13 On January 27, 1841, the Committee on Matters of Probate and Chancery considered the repeal of an act commonly called the Sunset Law
and reported a bill: An Act concerning elections, 1841. All meetings for the election of state and/or federal positions could start as early as 9
am. The voters could decide whether to have a single large ballot or all separate ballots. Votes could be turned in folded rather than open for all
to see. Why this was the purview of a committee on probate was not explained. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the

Ordered, that the Committee on Probate and Chancery inquire into the expediency of repealing or modifying the act, passed March 9th, 1839, entitled "An act concerning elections," commonly called the Sunset Law.
