Senate. Comm. on Education. Act respecting school-houses and taxes upon School districts, 1841
|
|
Senate No. 50 In March 1841, the Committee on Education, responding to an order, offered a bill: An Act respecting school-houses, and taxes upon school districts, 1841. If a district resident objected to the location of a new school building, he was to notify his selectmen, who in turn would notify the school district of the time and place of a hearing. After the presentations, the selectmen would make the final decision on the location. When the assessor prepared for a school levy voted by a school district, he was to make a list of affected taxpayers and their worth. No further explanation was given.
