Senate. Comm. on the Judiciary. Report on prevention of betting, 1841
|
|
Senate No. 28 On February 15, 1841, as instructed, the Committee on the Judiciary issued a report. Betting on elections was an evil practice. Those who did so should lose their voting rights. However, a law against betting would be easy to evade and hard to prove. Pennsylvania has such a law now, so there should soon be information about its effectiveness. Until then, it was not expedient to legislate. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Library of Congress).
