House. Select Comm. on Bank Returns. Act relating to bank returns, 1840
House No. 64 On March 13, 1840, five men were directed to consider whether to require banks to include the debts and liabilities of a bank director
to the bank as part of an annual report. The majority of the men recommended against it, but a minority presented a bill: An Act relating to bank
returns, 1840. The return of each bank should also contain the indebtedness of all directors to the bank, attested to under oath by the cashier.
There were fines for failure to provide the information. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
