House No. 29 The Committee on Printing had been directed to look for economies. On February 8, 1840, it reported that the 1839 printing bill had
been $10,359 and thought the prices for the work were fair. The printer could use cheaper paper and one size smaller font and try to avoid blank pages.
Print runs should only be 1,000. The committee suggested cutting down on the number of newspapers furnished to legislators. (Digitized from a

Ordered, that the Committee on Printing take into consideration the subject of the public printing, and report what alteration, if any, is necessary in the present method of procuring the execution of the printing for the several departments of the government, so as to reduce the expense of that branch of the public expenditure.
