Senate No. 48 On March 19, 1840, the Joint Committee on Agriculture submitted a report on the communications of the Commissioner of the Agricultural Survey. The bounty on wheat would be allowed to die at the end of next year. Sadly, the silk bounty is hardly used, even though the country spent huge amounts on foreign silk. The Board of Domestic Industry would be a good idea, so it should be considered during the next session. There would be an opportunity to collect statistical data during the 1840 census.
