Senate. Comm. on Manufactures. Act on assessment of taxes, 1840
|
|
Senate No. 35 The Committee on Manufactures reported a bill: An Act concerning the assessment of taxes, 1840. The capital stock of any manufacturing corporation would be assessed in the town where the corporation was situated; if there were more than one location, each town would assess proportionally. Any other real estate owned by the corporation would be treated the same way, except its value would be deducted from the value of the capital stock. The treasurer of each corporation had to annually furnish assessors with a true statement of the amount and value of capital stock and real estate.
