House. Comm. on Mercantile Affairs and Insurance. Act to incorporate the Middlesex Mill-Dam Company in Charlestown, 1836
House No. 64 The Committee on Mercantile Affairs and Insurance reported a bill: An Act to incorporate the Middlesex Mill-Dam Com[p]any in
Charlestown, 1836. Three men and their associates were incorporated as above, subject to Chapter 44 of the Revised Statutes. The company was authorized to
construct a mill dam in a specific location, including a lock to serve the Middlesex Canal. It could collect various fees. If a road were constructed
on top of the dam, it was to be a free public highway. The company would buy part of its land from the Commonwealth and the Governor had to approve
the plans for construction. The company could organize with 300-600 shares of $500 each. The dam had to be completed by January 1, 1840. (Digitized
