SEE ALSO 52856 House No. 62 Second report of the Bank Investigating Committee. On March 17, 1836, four banks were directed to show cause why
their charters should not be revoked. The banks responded and hearings were held. The Committee's report indicated that two banks should lose their
charters and two should not. On page 9 there was a minority report, explaining that the minority thought all four banks had offended and all should be
treated equally. All the banks had expressed remorse and promised to sin no more, so the minority offered a document [p. 15] to be signed by all the
directors in which they admitted guilt and promised to "hereafter scrupulously respect and be guided by the enactments of government," and that would be
the end of the investigation. The memorials from the four banks, attempting to justify their actions, were from p. 17-93. P. 95 and 96 were the
