House No. 52 The committee trying to determine a better way to organize Revolutionary War service and pension materials submitted a report: Part
of the records were in good order, but a large amount were not. There were between 300-500 claims outstanding because of paperwork issues. The State of
New York had sent all their records to the War Dept. and let that department put everything in order and manage the pensions. The War Dept. was
willing to receive Massachusetts' records also. Resolves relating to the evidence of Revolutionary War services: The Secretary of State was authorized
to loan the Secretary of War all the material relative to soldiers' service in the Revolutionary War. The papers had to be carefully packaged and sent
to avoid damage. The legislature could ask for the material to be returned after three years. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally
