House No. 35 Report relative to Registers of Deeds. On February 29, 1836, a three man committee submitted a report. The committee examined the
reports of all counties but one, and offered an abstract of their returns, showing year covered, number of deeds, etc. recorded, fees received, excise
paid, and number of pages in their books used each year. The committee also offered a bill: An Act requiring returns from each Register of Deeds,
1836. Each Register was supposed to send a report to the Secretary of State each January with the information called for on the attached form.
