Senate No. 68 On March 23, 1836, the Joint Committee on Railways and Canals reported a bill: An Act to authorize the Boston & Providence Railroad
Corporation to increase their capital stock, 1836. The corporation could add $500,000 to its capital stock with 5,000 shares of $100 each.
