Senate. Comm. on Railways and Canals. Act to unite the Worcester & Norwich and the Boston, Norwich and New London R.R. Companies, 1836
Senate No. 46 On March 3, 1836, the Committee on Railways and Canals reported a bill: An Act to unite the Worcester & Norwich and the Boston,
Norwich, & New London Railroad Companies, 1836. Stockholders of the Boston, Norwich & New London Railroad Company were now stockholders of the Worcester &
Norwich Railroad Company. Their voting rights were the same. All property was joint property. The managers were to keep careful separate books
until the entire rail project was finished; then the books could merge. Connecticut had to pass a similar law for the consolidation to be legal. [This
appears to be the first consolidation situation.] (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
Title:   The Committee on Railways and Canals, to whom were committed the petition of the Worcester and Norwich Rail-Road Company, and the petition of the Boston, Norwich, and New London Rail-Road Company, praying for the union of said corporations, have considered the same, and ask leave to report the accompanying bill.
