Williams, Amendment to the bill on Warren and Charles River Bridges, 1836

SEE ALSO 52842 Senate No. 36 Mr. Williams proposed a replacement for the bill on the Warren and Charles River Bridges: The Governor was to
appoint an agent to take charge of the Warren Bridge after March 2, 1836. The agent was to manage and maintain the bridge, collect the tolls, and pay them
quarterly to the State Treasurer. All funds that were in the Treasury and all future tolls could only be spent for bridge maintenance. The Governor
and the Council were to settle up with the Warren Bridge Corporation. If Boston and/or Charlestown gave bonds for bridge maintenance by July 1, 1836,
the the bridge would be free forever and the towns could have the toll money in the Treasury. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally
