Senate No. 35 On February 19, 1836, the Committee on Mercantile Affairs and Insurance reported a bill in response to a petition: An Act to
regulate the anchorage of vessels in in the harbor of Boston, 1836. No vessel was to anchor within 600' of any wharf unless it was working at that wharf.
While at a wharf, the jib booms and yards of the ship had to be in specified positions. There were fines for non-compliance. (Digitized from a

Title:   The Committee on Mercantile Affairs and Insurance, to whom was committed the petition of Charles Brown, et als., praying for an act to regulate the anchorage of vessels in the harbor of Boston, and to whom was also referred a bill from the files of the last General Court, in relation to the same subject, ask leave to report the accompanying bill.
