Parker, Substitute amendment to bill on raising the capital of the Boston and Lowell R.R. Corp., 1836
Senate No. 34 On February 18, 1836, Mr. Parker offered a substitute amendment. The railroad's annual report would be made under the oath of the
directors, the Legislature could examine the books at any time, and after twenty years, the State could purchase the assets of the corporation,
reimbursing shareholders for initial capital layout, maintenance expense, and a profit of 10% per annum, plus the Legislature could amend the original
incorporation act at any time, although not to imperil the 10% profit per annum. There were reprints of a section of the original act and a section of an
addition. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
