House. Comm. on Avenues and Bridges from Boston. Act concerning the toll on certain bridges, 1835
House, (2d session) No. 14 On October 19, 1835, the Committee on Avenues and Bridges was authorized to report a bill: An Act concerning the toll on
certain bridges and the avenues leading from the City of Boston to the neighboring towns, 1835. On July 4, 1840, all bridges and avenues would be
free of toll forever. There was a list of prices to be paid for various shares of stock in the same and a description of the method of payment. The
tolls levied until 1840 would go toward the expense of the buyout, with any leftovers going to maintenance of the bridges and avenues. If that money
proved insufficient, there would be taxes for the purpose. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State
Library).
