SEE ALSO 52723 House No. 62 On March 19, 1835, the Committee on Wooden Buildings reported: An Act for the further regulation of the erection of
wooden buildings in the City of Boston, 1835. No wooden building more than sixteen feet high could be built in Boston except by following a long list
of limits. Two or more wooden buildings together had to have fire walls between them. There were penalties for non-compliance to be prosecuted by
the Board of Engineers of the Fire Department. In order for the law to take affect, the voters of Boston had to approve it. (Digitized from a

The committee appointed to enquire if any, and what further regulations by law are required respecting the erection of wooden buildings in the city of Boston, and to whom, also, were referred the several petitions in relation to that subject, have duly considered the same, and ask leave to report a bill.
