SEE ALSO 52730 House No. 46 A Special Committee of three men reported: An Act to provide for the licensing hawkers, pedlars, and petty chapmen, 1835. Mayors and selectmen had the power to issue licenses to those who may sell wares containing wool, silk, or cotton, but if he had no license, the seller could be fined. No license lasted any longer than the issuer was in office. Justices of the Peace adjudicated complaints.
