Senate No. 69 Resolve providing for an amendment of the Constitution, 1835. The text of the amendment had been accepted by the proper number of
Senators and Representatives, entered into the journals of each house, and referred to the next General Court, as per procedure. The text of the
amendment: A census of ratable polls would be taken on May 1, 1837. The result would be sent to the Secretary then and every tenth year thereafter. 300
polls entitled a jurisdiction to one representative and an additional 450 polls added another representative. There were directions about how to
calculate for fewer or more polls. Small jurisdictions could combine to get an adequate number of polls. The Governor and the Council were to do the math
to figure out how many representatives would be elected in the first election under this system and publish the result. That number would stay the
