Senate No. 67 In late March 1835, the Committee on the Judiciary reported a bill: An Act concerning sales of property on execution [of a judgment], 1835. If a judgment was satisfied by a sale of property and it later became apparent that the property did not belong to the debtor, the buyer could get his money back and there had to be a new execution. Ordered, that the Committee on the Judiciary, be instructed to inquire into the expediency of providing by law, a remedy in cases, where execution shall have been returned satisfied by the sale of property not belonging to the execution debtor.
