Senate No. 67 In late March 1835, the Committee on the Judiciary reported a bill: An Act concerning sales of property on execution [of a judgment],
1835. If a judgment was satisfied by a sale of property and it later became apparent that the property did not belong to the debtor, the buyer could

Ordered, that the Committee on the Judiciary, be instructed to inquire into the expediency of providing by law, a remedy in cases, where execution shall have been returned satisfied by the sale of property not belonging to the execution debtor.
