Senate No. 64 On March 19, 1835, the Committee on Railroads and Canals considered petitions for railroad incorporation without the trouble and
expense of route surveys. On March 21, 1835, the Committee hit back hard with a history of railroad and turnpike incorporations that did not go well. If
a jurisdiction or landowner did not know where a route would go, they had no idea of the local impact. One of the primary jobs of the Legislature was
to protect people's property rights. The Committee voted unanimously to leave the act intact. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally

Ordered, that the Committee on Rail-roads and Canals on the part of the Senate, be instructed to inquire and report upon the expediency of repealing or modifying the act in relation to petitions for acts of incorporations for canals, rail-roads and turnpike companies, passed March 25, 1833.
