SEE ALSO 52653 Senate No. 56 On March 17, 1835, a special three man committee submitted amendments to An Act to provide for the election of County
commissioners and for other purposes. The men said the bill ought to pass with the accompanying amendments: Strike out the second-fourth sections
of the original bill and replace them with new directions for the staggered election of new County Commissioners, with a Board of Examiners to
determine by lot who left first. There were long directions about voting and counting the votes, who was notified of the count, how to resolve lack of a
majority, etc. There were provisions for Special Commissioners, who were to function if a regularly elected Commissioner could not. (Digitized from a
