Senate No. 40 In mid-January, the Committee on the Militia considered the Governor's speech on the topic and issued a report: The Commonwealth
needed a well-organized militia, so the Committee recommended the repeal of the 1834 Militia Act in favor of the Act of 1830. When the Revised Statutes
became available, a joint committee should study all the militia statutes and make recommendations for improvement. In February 1835, the Committee
proposed An Act in addition to the several acts for regulating, governing, and training the Militia of this Commonwealth. Except for several caveats,
repeal the 1834 act. The Commander in Chief was to monitor the fitness to serve of all elected officers. There were not to be any fake parades. This
was followed by four short Resolves about studying the Revised Statutes. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the
