Senate. Select Comm. on Petition of T. Thompson and W. Ladd. Measures for the abolition of war, 1835
Senate No. 35 A Select Committee of three men considered the petition of the American Peace Society: Measures for the Abolition of War. Several
thousand people signed a petition that asked for the formation of a Court of Nations to arbitrate international disputes to prevent war. The Committee
felt the idea was less of a fantasy than it had once been. The Society was looking for encouragement from the Legislature which the Committee thought
couldn't hurt and might help. Resolved: Some mode of arbitration should be established to prevent war. Resolved: The Governor should circulate
the Resolve among the states. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
