Senate No. 21 On February 7, 1835, the Committee on Mercantile Affairs and Insurance reported a bill: An Act ... for establishing the
compensation for piloting vessels through the Vineyard Sound over the Nantucket Shoals, in certain cases, 1835. If a pilot in the designated area offers his
services and is rejected in favor of another pilot, he is within his rights to demand half the piloting fee from the offending master. (Digitized from a
