SEE ALSO 52534 Senate No. 10 Mr. Coffin reported he had sold about 16,000 acres and expected some money from timber licenses. Thirty-nine plots
of 200 acres each had gone to soldiers and more soldiers were waiting for more land to be surveyed. The Legislature had to appropriate funds for that
to happen. The timber speculators kept a close eye on land auctions and tried to obstruct them, so Coffin was loathe to use that sales method for the
time being. He had made personal contact with various Provincial officers and worked out a communication system among them to avoid misinformation.
Coffin was relieved to learn that all monies from timber sales from the disputed territory were held in escrow pending the boundary settlement. Copies
of all the correspondence between the Provincial authorities and the U.S. State Dept. were included in the report, which made the whole situation
