House. Special Comm. on Impounding Cattle. Act concerning the impounding of cattle, 1834
House No. 62 A Special Committee of three men reported a bill: An Act concerning the impounding of cattle, 1834. The Field Drivers of all
jurisdictions were to impound farm animals wandering at large, hold them in the pound and advertise their presence so the owner could ransom them. If any
damage was caused by the animal, the owner was liable. If an owner did not appear in 3-4 weeks, the animal could be sold, any damages paid, and the
amount remaining kept with the local jurisdiction for two years for the owner to claim the proceeds. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally
held by the Massachusetts State Library).
