House. Comm. on the Pauper System. Resolve, 1834
House No. 56 On March 5, 1834, a Resolve was presented by a committee: The Governor was directed to appoint a Commission to study the expediency of
providing farms for the refuge and support of paupers, providing a report in January of 1835. How many farms, where should they be, cost of land and
equipment, cost for a superintendent, how would they be governed, etc. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the
Massachusetts State Library).
Title:   The committee to whom was re-committed the bill on the pauper system, with instructions to consider the expediency of reporting a bill in lieu thereof, to provide for the custody and maintenance of state paupers, in county or other establishments, under the immediate direction of the state, and also an order of the House relating to the employment of state paupers, have considered the same, and offer for the consideration of the House the following resolve.
