Description and Holding Information
House. Comm. on Fire Departments. Act to increase the number of engine men, &c., 1834
SEE ALSO 52476 House No. 28 On January 30, 1834, a committee reported a bill: An Act to increase the number and provide for the appointment of
enginemen, &c., 1834. The act listed the type of apparatus and how many men were needed for each. If a engineman worked for one year, June to May, he
could receive the equivalent of his poll tax in salary. Chiefs were to certify the list, assessors were to maintain records of payment and anyone in
the chain who failed to do his duty could be fined. The 2d and 3d sections of the act had to be adopted by the towns. (Digitized from a microfilm

Title:   The committee to whom was referred several orders of the House, relating to engine men, and members of fire departments, have considered the same, and ask leave to report a bill.
