SEE ALSO 52471, 52499 House No. 24 The Committee on Agriculture reported a Bill: An Act to encourage the culture of silk, 1834. If a person planted 100 mulberry trees on his land, far enough apart that they could grow properly, at the end of the second year would receive $2.00. Anyone who reels silk would receive $1.00 per hundred pounds of silk. The local selectmen were responsible to check the soundness of the trees and to weigh the silk fiber (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
