House. Viewing Comm. of the Agawam Works. Report, 1834
|
|
House No. 10 A Viewing Committee had visited the Agawam River and Works and reported: Wareham and related towns have sandy, unproductive soil, so they have factories instead, producing a value of around $2,000/day. In April and May, the sluices are opened for the spawning fish, but then the factories don't have power. The Committee suggested building sluices or ladders that don't need the entire riverbed to work. Also recommended was a committee to make decisions.
