House No. 5 On January 10, 1834, a five man committee was formed to consider causes without a jury and later submitted a bill: An Act for the more speedy decision of civil actions, 1834. If both parties agreed, cases not exceeding $50 could be heard before a judge only. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
