Senate No. 44 On February 10 and 21, 1834, the Committee on Probate and Chancery was asked to consider several issues relating to estate
administration. On February 28, 1834, it reported a bill: An Act in addition to an act to regulate the jurisdiction and proceedings of the Courts of Probate,
1834. If there was a controversy about the sanity of a testator, the Judge could allow letters of limited administration so an administrator could
collect and pay debts, do the inventory, and generally keep the process moving. The administrator could not have an interest in the outcome of the
proceedings and if the judge appointed two administrators, he was to take bond from each. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the

Ordered, that the Committee on Probate and Chancery be instructed to inquire whether any, and what further provisions of law are necessary respecting the disposition and management of the estates of persons dying testate, during the pendency of any suit at law, wherein the sanity of the testator is drawn in question, or the probate of his or her will may be contested.
