Senate No. 3 A Committee of both houses examined the votes on the Constitutional amendment. It rejected the votes of fifteen towns for various
irregularities. 32,234 voted for, 3,272 voted against, so the Amendment passed as the 11th Article of Amendment to the Constitution of the Commonwealth,
replacing Article 3. The text was included: people could enter or leave any religious organization, all religious organizations were equal before
the law, and the law would never subordinate any sect to another. This effectively did away with a state church. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of
