Joint Comm. on Apportionment. Report, 1833
52485 House No. 33 Thirty one people were the committee to redistrict the state. An Act to divide the Commonwealth into districts for the choice
of representatives in the Congress of the United States and prescribe the mode of the election, 1833. Twelve districts were to have one representative
each, who was to be a resident of the district. Rough district boundaries were listed. Voters were to gather at the appropriate time to cast their
votes, which were taken to the Secretary of the Commonwealth and eventually to the Governor to be counted. If there was not a majority for one
candidate, the jurisdiction voted again; if a vacancy occurred, the jurisdiction voted again. Pages 10-20 were lists of towns in districts. (Digitized from
a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
