House. Special Comm. on Gunpowder. Act for regulating storage of gunpowder, 1833
|
|
House No. 19 A Special Committee of the House submitted a bill: An Act further regulating the storage, safe keeping, and transportation of gunpowder in the City of Boston, 1833. No one except the military could keep or possess on land or sea more than one pound of gunpowder. It could not be sold without a license that would be issued for one year at a time. The City engineers would determine, post, and enforce the rules. The gunpowder would be subject to seizure if the rules were not followed. Anyone injured by improperly managed gunpowder could sue for damages. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
