Senate No. 24 On February 8, 1833, the Committee on the Judiciary was asked to consider penalties for forgery and counterfeiting, so it presented a bill: An Act in addition to an act against forgery and counterfeiting, 1833. Anyone bringing into Massachusetts, possessing or passing counterfeit currency was liable to three months in solitary confinement and three years at hard labor. The same applied to creating plates or possessing appropriate tools. Money from Canadian banks was included.
