Senate No. 18 A committee assigned to look into a division of Dartmouth in Bristol County had examined the situation. The petitioners wanted to divide the town with an east-west line that was just about equidistant from the north-south boundaries. The committee listed many details about the town. The members learned there were north and south parties which were hostile and so combative as to prevent any progress. The committee reluctantly concluded it was probably best to make the division and listed four conditions for the action. On January 8 and 9, 1833, the Senate and House concurred in the conclusions.
