Senate. Act to incorporate the Winnisimmet Company, 1833
SEE ALSO 52407 Senate No. 16 An Act to incorporate the Winnisimmet Company, 1833. Four men and their associates were designated a corporation as
Winnisimmet Company "with the usual powers and privileges of the bodies corporate," to purchase and hold the ferry, construct and maintain wharves,
etc. It could hold real estate to a value of $75,000 and personal property of $100,000, with shares sold at $500 each. The corporation could be held
liable only for negligence or bad boating skill and could sue those who damaged the ferry. There were penalties for vandalism. An amendment was
offered that said the act did not revive any right, now lost, for any other ferry. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the
Massachusetts State Library).
