Senate No. 15 On February 1, 1833, the Committee on Chancery and Probate reported a bill. An Act concerning arrests and imprisonment in civil
actions, 1833. Bond was available for civil actions and was good for ninety days. Any person who desired to take the poor debtor's oath had to notify
his/her creditors and appear before the court. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
Title:   The Committee on matters of Probate and Chancery, to whom was referred the subject of imprisonment for debt, and also that of insolvent debtors, have, in some measure, considered the same, and ask leave to report, in part, a bill.
