Senate. Comm. on Railways and Canals. Act to establish the South Cove Corporation, 1833
|
|
Senate No. 9 On January 23, 1833, the Committee on Railways and Canals presented An Act to establish the South Cove Corporation, 1833. Six men and their associates were incorporated as the South Cove Corporation, with the usual corporate structure and responsibilities. It was allowed real estate to $1,000,000 and personal property valued to $100,000. There were specific instructions about wharf locations, railroad tie-ins, warehouses and terminals. The corporation could build a sea wall, but had to preserve tidal flow and maintain any necessary draws. It had to work with the City of Boston on storm drains and sewers and any new streets. The charter was good for forty years. (Digitized from a microfilm copy of title originally held by the Massachusetts State Library).
