Senate. Comm. on Railways and Canals. Act to incorporate the Winnisimmet Ferry, 1833
Senate No. 5 The Committee on Railways and Canals reported a bill on January 12, 1833: An Act to incorporate the proprietors of the Winnisimmet
Ferry, 1833. Four men and their associates were declared a corporation as the Winnisimmet Company with the usual corporate structure and powers. The
corporation would manage the 'ancient" ferry and build wharves for steam and ferry boats. It was capitalized at $100,000 with a share price of $500.
The corporation had limited liability. No boat or structure could obstruct the ferry's passage. The Legislature could revoke the act at any time.
