House No. 55 On January 11, 1832, five men were designated as a committee to consider the communications from other states as presented by the
Governor. New Hampshire recommended improving the militia organization of several states. Connecticut declared strong support for the federal judiciary.
Maine was not happy that tax dollars from Maine were going to internal improvement projects in other states. The Committee from Massachusetts, at
length and with high-flown language, strongly defended the need for internal improvements to knit the country together. Resolved: the General

Ordered, that so much of the Governor's message, as relates to the communications from the states of Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut, be committed to Messrs. Gardner, of Roxbury, Sanger, of Sherburne, Ingalls, of Lynn, Homer, of Boston, And Fowler, of Westfield.
